Diabetes Education Clinic
Diabetes develops when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body cannot use the insulin it produces effectively, and it is a lifelong condition.
Diabetes develops when the gland called the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot use the insulin it produces effectively, and it is a lifelong condition. Because diabetes is an increasingly common health problem worldwide, raising patients' awareness of healthy lifestyle changes is very important. Diabetes treatment includes diet, exercise, oral medications and, in later stages when necessary, insulin. Diabetes education is just as important as the disease itself. The most important aspect of diabetes treatment is educating both the patient and their family.
Rather than simply accepting diabetes as a disease, it is necessary to learn to live with it. This is only possible by knowing and understanding it. Education is essential for identifying risks and preventive measures, managing, monitoring and controlling diabetes, and developing healthy lifestyle behaviors.
In Türkiye, both public and private hospitals have diabetes outpatient clinics in this field. Our hospital also has a diabetes education outpatient clinic and a diabetes education nurse who provides training to people with diabetes.
The training covers basic topics such as the use of oral medications, insulin therapy and injection technique, blood sugar measurement and monitoring, use of a glucometer, and preventive foot care.
