We apply laser treatment to spider veins thinner than 1–1.5 mm. Different types of laser are used at different wavelengths. One of the lasers that gives the best results is the diode laser, which is used in our clinic. The treatment is applied over the skin. Two to three sessions at 3–6 week intervals may be needed. The laser does not burn directly. The color pigments of the blood cells inside the vessel absorb the laser light and heat up. The resulting heat causes the vessel walls to seal together and the vein fades away.
